Where Is My Data Stored When I Use an AI Voice Agent?
Short answer: your data is stored in your region, chosen automatically when you sign up. Workspaces for the US, UK, UAE and the rest of the world are stored in the United Kingdom (London); India workspaces are stored in India (Mumbai). Storing data in a country is not the same as processing it there: on international workspaces, parts of each call are processed outside the UK (speech recognition in the EU, the voice and the language model in the US) under UK transfer safeguards.
Why the difference between storing and processing matters
"Where is my data stored?" usually means "where does it live at rest?": the database, files and recordings. But a voice call also has to be heard, understood and answered, and some of those services run in other countries. A fair answer covers both, which is why we say "stored in London" and not "never leaves the UK".
How your region is chosen
- At sign-up, your country decides which deployment your workspace is created in.
- International workspaces (US, UK, UAE and elsewhere) are created on the international deployment, stored in London and billed in US dollars.
- India workspaces are created on the India deployment and stored in Mumbai.
What is stored
- Conversation history across website chat, WhatsApp, Telegram and phone calls.
- Call transcripts and outcomes, and recordings if you switch recording on (it is off by default, per agent).
- Your contacts, your do-not-contact list, and your knowledge base files.
- The details of each action the agent takes through your tools, such as the arguments of a booking it made.
If your agent looks records up live in your own database through your API, those records stay in your database. The conversation itself still passes through us and is stored.
What is processed elsewhere
On international workspaces, speech recognition runs in the EU, and the voice and the language model that writes replies run in the US. These transfers are made under UK transfer safeguards. On India workspaces, data is stored in India, and parts of a conversation may likewise be processed outside India by the services that recognise speech and write replies.
How the data is protected
- Each workspace is isolated from every other, enforced in the database and again in the agent runtime.
- Credentials you connect, such as your phone provider and store keys, are stored encrypted.
- We do not store card details; payments go to a payment processor and we keep only a reference to you.
- The marketing website holds no customer data.
- If you need data deleted, ask us and our team handles it.
Your part
You decide what goes into the agent: the knowledge base, the call lists and whether calls are recorded. You are responsible for telling your own customers how you use their data, under the law that applies to you, such as UK GDPR. The full detail is in our privacy policy; the UK, US, UAE and India pages cover each market, and call recording explains the recording switch.
