It means you bring your own API keys for the underlying providers — OpenAI, Anthropic, Deepgram, ElevenLabs, Sarvam and so on — and the platform routes usage through your keys directly. You pay providers directly at their published rates, and the platform only charges a thin orchestration fee on top.

Why does BYOK matter for Indian businesses?

What's the difference between BYOK and self-hosting?

BYOK is available on ThinnestAI's standard cloud product for every customer. Self-hosting is available for enterprise customers who need to run the platform in their own VPC.
How does ThinnestAI make money if I pay providers directly?

A flat ₹1.5/min platform fee for voice workloads. That covers the orchestration layer (no-code flow editor, RAG, tool calling, versioning, dashboards), the real-time engine, phone procurement, observability, compliance guardrails and support. The fee is transparent and separate from provider cost, so you always know where your money is going.
Do I have to BYOK — can I just use ThinnestAI's keys?

No, BYOK is optional. Some providers are available platform-managed — Sarvam is the big one, included in our free tier with zero setup. For other providers you can BYOK from day one, or start with platform-managed defaults and switch to BYOK when your volume justifies it.
How does BYOK affect compliance and data residency?

BYOK means requests go through the provider you choose, which may have its own data residency and compliance rules. If you need Mumbai-region processing, pick Sarvam or Indian-hosted providers for STT/TTS and OpenAI/Anthropic with India data residency for LLM. For enterprise compliance we support self-hosted deployment in your own VPC.
Can I mix BYOK and platform-managed on the same agent?
