AI call answering

What does an AI phone agent do for a small business in Singapore?

It answers the calls you would otherwise miss while you are up a ladder, in a consultation or at a client site, and handles them as a good receptionist would: a booking, a quote request, a message, or a transfer to you. Callers can be answered in English, Mandarin, Malay or Tamil.

A lot of Singapore businesses are small teams whose phone rings at the wrong moment: an aircon technician on a job, a dentist with a patient in the chair, a tuition centre after the last class. A missed call tends to go straight to the next business on the search results.

  • Bookings go into your calendar through Cal.com, or into your own system through its API.
  • Questions about opening hours, fees, packages and directions are answered from your website and documents.
  • Every call has a transcript and an outcome. More on how it works on the AI receptionist page.

Voices

Can the agent speak Singaporean English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil?

Yes. Voice agents speak English (with a Singaporean accent among the English accents), Mandarin, Malay and Tamil, and you choose the voice from a searchable library and listen before you pick. Replies on WhatsApp and website chat run in 37 languages: English and Tamil are among them, Mandarin and Malay are not.

Callers in Singapore often move between languages in one sentence. To be straight about the limits: we have not published how each voice handles that, and we do not claim Singlish or any Chinese dialect such as Hokkien or Teochew. Listen in the library, ring your agent from the browser, and have someone who speaks the language at home try it before you connect your number. A caller on WhatsApp who writes in Mandarin or Malay gets a reply in English, or the conversation goes to your team from the shared inbox.

Data

Where is my data stored, and what does the PDPA say about overseas transfers?

We support region deployments for enterprise customers. Under Singapore's PDPA you stay responsible for personal data you send overseas, so ask your adviser what you must do before you use any overseas service.

The transfer rule is section 26 of the PDPA, read with the Personal Data Protection Regulations 2021. As the PDPC explains it (Advisory Guidelines on Key Concepts, revised 29 April 2026), an organisation may transfer personal data overseas if it has taken appropriate steps to ensure the recipient is bound by legally enforceable obligations, or holds a specified certification, to give the data a standard of protection comparable to the PDPA. The same guidelines say that when you use a data intermediary, you remain responsible for the Transfer Limitation Obligation, and the onus is on you to do appropriate due diligence and obtain assurances.

Calls are processed partly in other countries, with speech recognition in the EU and the voice and the language model in the US, under transfer safeguards. Whether our terms satisfy section 26 for your business is a question for your adviser; we do not claim it does. The privacy policy sets out the detail. Your number

Can I keep my existing Singapore number?

Yes, if the number lives on a Twilio, Telnyx or Plivo account you hold: connect the account and the agent answers that number. We don't sell Singapore numbers.

  • Number with a Singapore operator? Port it to one of those accounts if the provider allows it, or forward your calls to a number you hold there. We have not tested every carrier route.
  • Transfer to a person and voicemail detection work on Plivo and Telnyx numbers. An imported Twilio number answers and records, but can't transfer or detect voicemail.
  • Telnyx calls only the countries switched on in your outbound voice profile — the US and Canada by default — so add Singapore before making outbound calls.

Outbound calls

Do Singapore's Do Not Call rules apply to AI sales calls?

Yes, on the PDPC's own reading: the PDPA's definition of a voice call includes a call with a recorded or synthetic voice, so an AI marketing call to a Singapore number is covered. You must check the Do Not Call Registry first, unless the person has given clear and unambiguous consent in evidential form.

What the PDPC's Advisory Guidelines on the Do Not Call Provisions (revised 1 February 2021) say, as read on 25 October 2026: under Part 9 of the PDPA, section 43 requires a check of the DNC Registry before you send a specified message to a Singapore telephone number, with results valid for 21 days; section 44 requires you to identify yourself and say how to contact you; and section 45 forbids withholding your calling line identity on a voice call. There are three registers (voice calls, text messages and fax), and the rules apply to WhatsApp and similar apps when they use a Singapore number. Section 48B forbids sending messages to numbers made up by dictionary attack or collected with address-harvesting software, which rules out auto-dialling invented numbers.

Some messages are not specified messages at all, among them messages that only confirm a transaction the person agreed to, messages sent in an ongoing relationship whose sole purpose relates to it, market research, and messages sent to an organisation for its own purposes. Whether yours qualify is a question for your adviser. The product gives you tools: a do-not-contact list you keep, calling hours you set for each campaign on the called person's clock, an opening line you write that says who is calling, and a transcript of every call. It does not check the Registry for you and does not collect consent. We could not verify the penalties. Answering your own inbound calls is a different matter, and most businesses start there. Recording

Do I need to tell callers I am recording?

Plan on yes. Singapore treats a voice recording of an identifiable person as personal data, so the PDPA's consent and notification duties apply. Recording is a per-agent switch, off by default, and the opening line is yours to write.

We did not find a Singapore rule written for call recording alone in the PDPC guidance we read on 25 October 2026; the Key Concepts guidelines do treat customers' voice data as personal data in their example of a bank using call-centre voice recordings. Tell callers in the greeting that the call is recorded and why, keep the recordings only as long as you need them, and ask your adviser about your own sector. Read the official text; not legal advice.

WhatsApp

Does it work on WhatsApp for customers in Singapore?

Yes. The same agent answers on WhatsApp, website chat and the phone, with chat replies in 37 languages (English and Tamil among them) and a shared inbox where your team can take over.

We found no reliable national figure for how many customers in Singapore prefer WhatsApp, so test it with your own customers. Marketing messages need care: the DNC rules above also cover WhatsApp messages to a Singapore number, and Meta's WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy (last updated 23 September 2026) says you may message only people who have given you their number and opted in to hear from you. Agencies

Can a Singapore agency resell it under its own brand?

Yes. White label comes with every paid plan: your brand, your domain, your email sender, your sign-in page and your own prices.

Your clients pay you through your own card checkout, buy your plans and set up automatic top-up. You build their receptionists; they see only your brand. See white label for agencies.

Billing

Do you bill in Singapore dollars?

No. International workspaces, Singapore included, are billed in US dollars by card. Checkout runs through a merchant of record that handles sales tax and VAT, and your bank converts the charge. Prices are on the pricing page.
