AI call answering
What does an AI phone agent do for a business in Vietnam?
It answers the calls you would miss while you are with a guest, a patient or a buyer, and handles them like a good receptionist: a booking, an enquiry, a message, or a transfer to you. Callers can speak Vietnamese or English, and Mandarin for Chinese-speaking visitors and buyers.
Many calls to a Vietnamese business come from people who are not in the room: a guest abroad, a buyer in another time zone, a family booking for a parent. An agent that answers at once, in the caller's language, stops those calls turning into a lost booking.
- Bookings go into your calendar through Cal.com, or into your own system through its API.
- Questions about prices, rooms, treatments and directions are answered from your website and documents.
- Every call has a transcript and an outcome. More on how it works on the AI receptionist page.
Voices
Does the agent speak Vietnamese?
Yes. Voice agents speak Vietnamese, English and Mandarin, and you choose the voice from a searchable library and listen before you pick. Replies on WhatsApp and website chat run in 37 languages, and Vietnamese and English are among them; Mandarin is not.
To be straight about the limits: we claim the Vietnamese language, not a regional accent. We have not published how each voice sounds for northern, central or southern speakers, so listen in the library, ring your agent from the browser, and have a native speaker from your own region try it before you connect your number. Voice agents also speak Korean, Japanese, Thai and many more, which matters for factories and hotels with visitors from across Asia.
Data
Where is my data stored, and what does Vietnam's data protection law say?
We support region deployments for enterprise customers. Vietnam's Personal Data Protection Law has applied since 1 January 2026, so ask your adviser what it requires before you send customer data to any overseas service.
What we read on 25 October 2026, from law-firm and legal-press analyses (we could not open the official text): the Law on Personal Data Protection, No. 91/2025/QH15, was passed on 26 June 2025 and took effect on 1 January 2026, and Decree 356/2025/ND-CP, issued on 31 December 2025, supersedes Decree 13/2023/ND-CP. Silence or non-response is not consent, and you must be able to show proof of consent. The law keeps a transfer impact assessment for sending personal data abroad, and one law-firm analysis reports fines of up to 5% of the previous year's revenue for transfer violations. Check the details with a Vietnamese adviser.
Calls are processed partly in other countries, with speech recognition in the EU and the voice and the language model in the US, under transfer safeguards. We do not claim this satisfies Vietnam's transfer rules for your business, and it may be a reason to ask about a regional deployment. The privacy policy sets out the detail. Read the official text; not legal advice.
Your number
Can I keep my existing Vietnamese number?
Yes, if the number lives on a Twilio, Telnyx or Plivo account you hold: connect the account and the agent answers that number. We don't sell Vietnamese numbers.
- Number with a Vietnamese operator? We have not verified which Vietnamese numbers those providers can hold or port in. The simplest start is forwarding your calls to a number you hold there, so you can test before you move anything.
- Transfer to a person and voicemail detection work on Plivo and Telnyx numbers. An imported Twilio number answers and records, but can't transfer or detect voicemail.
- Telnyx calls only the countries switched on in your outbound voice profile — the US and Canada by default — so add Vietnam before making outbound calls.

Outbound calls
What are the rules for AI sales calls in Vietnam?
You are responsible for following them. As reported by Vietnamese legal sources, Decree 91/2020/ND-CP allows advertising calls only to people who agreed in advance, and requires you to check the national do-not-advertise list; the rules are changing, so take advice.
What we read on 25 October 2026, from Vietnamese legal-press and law-firm pages rather than the official text: Decree 91/2020/ND-CP has applied since 1 October 2020. It says advertisers may call or message a person only after the person has agreed in advance to receive advertising, and must check the do-not-advertise list (the DNC list), which people join by SMS to 5656 or on the khongquangcao.ais.gov.vn website. Press reports quote Article 13 as limiting advertising calls to 8:00 to 17:00 unless the user agreed otherwise. A Ministry of Public Security comparison table dated September 2026 shows a draft decree to replace Decree 91; we could not confirm its status or whether the hours change.
The product gives you tools: a do-not-contact list you keep, calling hours you set for each campaign on the called person's clock, an opening line you write that says who is calling, and a transcript of every call. It does not check the national list for you and does not collect consent. We could not verify how an AI voice agent is classified, so plan on the stricter view. Answering your own inbound calls is a different matter, and most businesses start there. Read the official text; not legal advice.
Zalo and WhatsApp
Does it work with Zalo, or only WhatsApp?
Only WhatsApp, website chat and the phone. We do not integrate with Zalo, so we cannot answer Zalo Official Account messages. WhatsApp is the better fit for overseas customers and visitors; for domestic customers you may need to keep Zalo for your team.
Zalo is widely used in Vietnam, and we found no reliable figure for how business customers split between Zalo and WhatsApp. If most of your customers write to you on Zalo, WhatsApp will not replace it: use WhatsApp for guests, buyers and expatriates, and the phone agent for calls. Marketing messages on WhatsApp need care: Meta's WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy (last updated 23 September 2026) says you may message only people who have given you their number and opted in. See the WhatsApp Business API and the WhatsApp AI agent.
Agencies
Can a Vietnamese agency resell it under its own brand?
Yes. White label comes with every paid plan: your brand, your domain, your email sender, your sign-in page and your own prices.
Your clients pay you through your own card checkout, buy your plans and set up automatic top-up. You build their receptionists; they see only your brand. See white label for agencies.
Billing
Do you bill in Vietnamese dong?
No. International workspaces, Vietnam included, are billed in US dollars by card. Checkout runs through a merchant of record that handles sales tax and VAT, and your bank converts the charge. Prices are on the pricing page.
