Ireland
An AI receptionist for businesses in Ireland, with an Irish accent.
thinnest answers your calls day and night in English with an Irish accent, books appointments, takes messages and answers on WhatsApp and web chat too. Bring the number you already have.
AI call answering
What does an AI phone agent do for a business in Ireland?
It answers the calls you would otherwise miss while you are on a job, in a consulting room or behind the bar, and deals with them the way a good receptionist would: a booking, a message, or a transfer to you. The same agent answers on WhatsApp and web chat.
Much of Irish business is small and local: the sole-trader plumber, the two-chair dental practice, the solicitor, the guesthouse. The owner is the receptionist, and the owner is often up a ladder. An agent that picks up every call and replies to every message stops the enquiry that arrives at the wrong moment going to the next name on the list.
- Bookings go into your calendar through Cal.com, or into your own system through its API.
- Questions about prices, opening hours, service areas and directions are answered from your website and documents.
- Every call has a transcript and an outcome. More on how it works on the AI receptionist page, and in our guide for Irish small businesses.
Voices
Is there an Irish accent, and what about Irish (Gaeilge)?
There is an Irish accent for English: the voice library carries one, and you choose each voice by listening before you pick. Irish itself, Gaeilge, is not supported: it is neither a voice language nor one of the 37 languages for chat and WhatsApp replies.
Customers in Ireland come from many places, and voice agents also speak Polish, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Ukrainian, Romanian, Mandarin and many more, so a plumber in Dublin can answer a Polish-speaking tenant in Polish. If your service is public-facing in Irish, for example a Gaeltacht business, a greeting in English is the best we can offer today; tell hello@thinnest.ai what you need.
We claim an Irish accent for English and nothing finer: we have not published how each voice sounds across Ulster, Munster or Dublin, so ring your agent from the browser and have someone local try it before you connect your number.
Does it work on WhatsApp for customers in Ireland?
Yes. The same agent answers on WhatsApp, website chat and the phone, with replies in 37 languages (English among them), a shared inbox where your team can take over, and approved templates for reminders and confirmations.
We found no reliable national figure for how many Irish customers prefer WhatsApp to a call or a text, so test it with your own customers. Marketing messages need consent: the Irish rules on electronic marketing require clear, affirmative consent from individuals (see below). See the WhatsApp Business API and the WhatsApp AI agent.
Your number
Can I keep my existing Irish number?
Yes, if the number lives on a Twilio, Telnyx or Plivo account you hold: connect the account and the agent answers that number. We don't sell Irish numbers.
- Number with an Irish carrier? Port it to one of those accounts, or forward your calls to a number you hold there.
- Transfer to a person and voicemail detection work on Plivo and Telnyx numbers. An imported Twilio number answers and records, but can't transfer or detect voicemail.
- Telnyx calls only the countries switched on in your outbound voice profile - the US and Canada by default - so add Ireland before making outbound calls.

Outbound calls
What are the rules for AI sales calls in Ireland?
You are responsible for following them. Under the ePrivacy Regulations (S.I. 336 of 2011), marketing calls to a mobile phone are prohibited unless the subscriber has consented, and calls to a landline are allowed only if the subscriber has not objected or been listed on the National Directory Database (NDD) opt-out register.
What the Data Protection Commission (DPC) says on its website, as read on 25 October 2026: marketing calls to mobile phones are prohibited unless the caller has been told by the subscriber that they consent, or the subscriber has given general consent recorded in the NDD for that number. For landlines, calls are permitted unless the person has told the marketer they object or has listed the number on the NDD opt-out register, and an existing business relationship does not override an instruction not to call. The general rule for electronic direct marketing is clear, affirmative consent. ComReg deals with failures to record an opt-out. The DPC may prosecute persistent offenders.
The product gives you tools: a do-not-contact list you keep, calling hours you set for each campaign on the called person's clock, an opening line you write, and a transcript of every call. It does not check the NDD, and it does not collect or check consent. We found no fixed calling-hours rule in the sources we could read, so set hours you would defend. We could not verify how an AI voice agent is classified, so plan on the stricter view: consent first. Read our guide to the ePrivacy rules for AI outbound calls. Answering your own inbound calls is a different matter from cold calling, and most businesses start there. Read the official text; not legal advice.
Data
Where is my data stored, and what about GDPR?
Each workspace keeps its data in the region it is set up in. We support region deployments for enterprise customers.
Calls are processed partly in other countries, with speech recognition in the EU and the voice and the language model in the US, under transfer safeguards. That does not settle your own duties as the business that talks to the customer; ask your data-protection adviser what your situation needs. The privacy policy sets out the detail.
You remain responsible for telling callers how their data is used, including that a call is recorded if you switch recording on (it is off by default). The agent's opening line is yours to write, so it can say so at the start of every call. Read the official text; not legal advice.
Agencies
Can an Irish agency resell it under its own brand?
Yes. White label comes with every paid plan: your brand, your domain, your email sender, your sign-in page and your own prices.
Your clients pay you through your own card checkout, buy your plans and set up automatic top-up. You build their receptionists; they see only your brand. See white label for agencies.
Billing
Do you bill in euros?
No. International workspaces, Ireland included, are billed in US dollars by card. Checkout runs through a merchant of record that handles sales tax and VAT, and your bank converts the charge. Prices are on the pricing page.
