How an AI agent qualifies leads for businesses in Vietnam
An AI agent qualifies a lead by asking the questions you put in its prompt, in the caller's language, and saving the answers with a transcript and an outcome. Below are three Vietnam examples: an export buyer calling a furniture factory, a follow-up call to a parent in Hanoi (held in Vietnamese, shown in English) and a WhatsApp enquiry to a Da Nang tour operator, with the consent rules to know. It does not work on Zalo.
Example 1 · Inbound call
Can the agent qualify an overseas buyer who rings after office hours?
It took the buyer through product, quantity, destination and target date, noted that samples were needed first, and alerted the sales manager with a transcript for the morning.
- Buyer: Rotterdam importer
- Product: Solid-wood dining chairs
- Quantity: About 800, one container
- Destination: Rotterdam
- Target arrival: March
- Next step: Sample, reply by email
Example 2 · Outbound follow-up call
Can the agent follow up a parent who asked for a call about a placement test?
The parent had asked on the centre's page to be called. The call (in Vietnamese, shown here in English) fell inside the hours the centre set, said who was calling and why, and ended with a placement test booked for the weekend.
- Child: 11 years old
- Goal: Speaking, Cambridge test next year
- Consent: Asked for a call on the page
- Call time: 10:30, inside the centre's set hours
- Booking: Placement test, Saturday 09:00
Example 3 · WhatsApp
Can the agent qualify a tourist enquiry for a private day tour?
A guest from Sydney wrote in English. The agent found the date was only a rough idea and the party undecided, sent the day-trip options, and left the lead for the team to follow up after the guest chose a date.
- Party: 4 adults
- Interest: Private tour, Hoi An and Marble Mountains
- Dates: Maybe second week of January
- Guide: English speaking
- Channel: WhatsApp
Questions to ask
What should the agent ask a lead in Vietnam?
You write these into the agent's prompt, in your own words and in your customers' language.
| Question | Why it matters here |
|---|---|
| Is this an overseas or a domestic customer? | Overseas buyers and tourists reach you by phone, email or WhatsApp; domestic customers may write on Zalo, which the agent does not answer. |
| What quantity and destination? | For export buyers, the order size and destination port decide whether the sales manager takes the lead at once. |
| Which language does the customer prefer? | Vietnamese and English voice and chat are available; Mandarin is voice only. Pick the language to avoid a lost lead. |
| What is the goal or occasion? | A parent wanting a certificate, a guest wanting a private tour or a buyer needing a sample each leads to a different next step. |
| When do they need it, and are the dates fixed? | Fixed dates mean a hot lead; "maybe next week" means a callback or a reminder. |
| How big is the group or order? | Group size sets the vehicle, the room or the class; it also separates a casual enquiry from a booking. |
| What is the best time and number to reach them? | It keeps follow-up calls inside the hours you set and the person agreed to. |
Reading the outcome
Hot, warm or cold: what happens next.
The bands are the ones you describe in the prompt, then read off each call's outcome and transcript.
| Band | What it means | What you do next |
|---|---|---|
| Hot | A clear need, quantity or dates and an available decision-maker. You write these rules into the agent prompt; the platform has no built-in scoring. | Book the visit, test or sample through Cal.com and alert the person responsible. |
| Warm | Real interest but dates, quantity or decision-maker not settled. | Send the options asked for and schedule a callback at a time the person chose. |
| Cold | Browsing, no timing, or not a fit. | Answer, send the information and stop. Do not message or call someone who declined. |
The rules
What the rules say about following up a lead in Vietnam.
Consent, do-not-call lists, calling hours and recording are set by local law, and you are responsible for them.
Calls and messages to someone who asked for them
As reported by Vietnamese legal sources read on 25 October 2026 (not the official text), Decree 91/2020/ND-CP lets advertisers call or message only people who agreed in advance to receive advertising, and requires a check of the national do-not-advertise list (people join by SMS to 5656 or at khongquangcao.ais.gov.vn). A parent who asked on your page to be called has given you something to rely on, if you can show it; the product does not store proof of consent for you. Read the official text; not legal advice.
Calling hours
Press reports quote Article 13 of Decree 91/2020 as allowing advertising calls only from 8:00 to 17:00 each day unless the user agreed otherwise, and advertising text messages from 7:00 to 22:00. We could not confirm this from the official text, and a draft replacement decree appeared in September 2026. The platform sets no calling window of its own: set the hours for each campaign on the called person's clock, inside what your adviser confirms. Read the official text; not legal advice.
Personal data and WhatsApp
The Law on Personal Data Protection (No. 91/2025/QH15) has applied since 1 January 2026, with Decree 356/2025/ND-CP; law-firm summaries say silence is not consent and you must be able to show proof of it. Meta's WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy (last updated 23 September 2026) says you may message only people who gave you their number and opted in. Recording is off by default; tell callers if you switch it on. Read the official text; not legal advice.
Read on 25 October 2026. Read the official text; this is not legal advice.
Local notes
What is different in Vietnam.
- Voice agents speak Vietnamese, English and Mandarin; chat and WhatsApp replies cover Vietnamese and English. We claim the language, not a northern, central or southern accent.
- Zalo is widely used in Vietnam and we do not integrate with it. Use WhatsApp, website chat and the phone for leads, and keep Zalo with your team.
- We found no reliable national figure for WhatsApp use in Vietnam; it is most useful for tourists, export buyers and expatriates. Check your own inbox.
- International workspaces import a number from Twilio, Telnyx or Plivo; we do not sell +84 numbers and have not verified which Vietnamese numbers those providers hold. We support region deployments for enterprise customers.
