Voice AI use cases for businesses in France
A voice agent answers the phone in French or English, books, takes messages and hands urgent calls to a person. These are eight situations where that fits a business in France, from a Nantes roofer to a Nice villa concierge, with the rules and limits that come with them.
Eight use cases
How businesses in France use voice ai.
Fictional businesses in real places, to show what the agent does with calls.
01 — Roofing · Nantes
Quote lines after a storm
After a storm the phone rings all day while the crew is on the roofs. The agent takes the address, the type of building and whether water is coming in, and promises a callback or a visit.
- Greets in French and says it is an automated assistant.
- Asks the address, house or building, and whether there is a leak.
- Marks leaks as urgent and transfers them to the boss (on Plivo and Telnyx numbers).
- Books a quote visit or schedules a callback inside working hours.
The firm gets a list of jobs ranked by urgency instead of a queue of missed calls.
02 — Restaurant · Lyon
Table bookings at lunch and dinner
In the service nobody can answer. The agent takes the date, the number of guests and any allergy, offers the tables you released, and passes large groups to the manager.
- Asks for date, time and number of guests.
- Checks the free slots you have released in your calendar.
- Answers menu and allergen questions from the file you uploaded.
- Hands groups above your limit to the manager.
Bookings arrive in writing, with allergy notes, and the staff keep serving.
03 — Garage · Toulouse
Booking the inspection and the service
Customers ring to book the technical inspection or a service and ask whether their car is ready. The agent books from your calendar, notes the plate and the model, and answers hours and directions.
- Asks what the car needs and offers free slots.
- Notes the plate number and the model.
- Answers hours and directions from the knowledge base.
- Hands price disputes to the manager.
The workshop counter stops being interrupted by the phone.
04 — Estate agency · Sarlat, Dordogne
Qualifying foreign buyers
Buyers from the Netherlands and Britain ring in English about stone houses. The agent asks whether it is a main or second home, the budget, cash or mortgage and the dates, and books a viewing weekend.
- Answers in English or French, whichever the caller starts in.
- Asks purpose, budget, financing route and dates.
- Books a viewing through Cal.com.
- Hands the details to the right agent.
Agents spend their weekends with serious buyers, not on screening calls.
05 — Villa rental · Nice
A concierge line for guests of holiday villas
Guests ring at midnight about the key, the pool or the Wi-Fi. The agent answers in French, English or German from the house guide, and passes urgent cases to the caretaker on duty.
- Answers in the language the guest starts in.
- Answers from the property guide in the knowledge base.
- Logs requests for the next morning.
- Transfers urgent cases to the caretaker.
Guests get an answer at any hour, and the concierge reads a clear list in the morning.
06 — Wine estate · Saint-Émilion
Visit bookings for tastings and tours
Visitors ring to book a tasting and ask about languages, group sizes and shipping. The agent books from your calendar and answers from your price sheet and visit rules.
- Asks date, group size and language.
- Books a slot through Cal.com.
- Answers shipping and opening-hours questions from the knowledge base.
- Hands trade and press requests to a person.
The estate fills its visit slots without someone answering the phone in the vineyard.
07 — Veterinary clinic · Rennes
Emergency triage for animals
Owners ring at night about a sick animal. The agent asks the species and the symptoms from your list, sends emergencies to the vet on duty, and books routine visits for the morning.
- Asks the species and the main symptom from a list you wrote.
- Transfers an emergency to the vet on duty (on Plivo and Telnyx numbers).
- Books routine visits from your free slots.
- Leaves a transcript for the next morning.
Emergencies reach the vet quickly, and routine requests wait politely until morning.
08 — Driving school · Lille
Calling back people who asked to be called
A student asked, by ticking a separate box on the online quote form, to be called about the licence. The agent calls on a weekday inside the permitted hours, says who is calling, offers to stop and books a first lesson or a callback. Since 11 August 2026 the prior consent is what makes the call possible.
- Calls only numbers with a recorded consent to phone calls.
- States who is calling, that it is automated, and why, and offers to stop.
- Asks the licence type and the start date.
- Books a first lesson or a callback the lead chose.
Students who asked for a call get a prompt one, and the school has a record of the consent.
In practice
How voice ai is used in France.
- French businesses answer the phone in French, and customers expect "vous" unless the brand is informal. Voice agents speak French and English in American, British, Australian, Indian and other accents, and German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch and Arabic among others; we make no claim about Canadian or Belgian French or regional languages.
- We found no reliable national figure on how often customers in France prefer the phone to WhatsApp or e-mail for a first contact, so we quote none; check your own call log.
- Phone numbers are your own: connect a +33 number you hold on a Twilio, Telnyx or Plivo account, or forward unanswered calls to one. We do not sell French numbers.
Plainly
What this will not do for you in France.
So you can rule it in or out before you start.
- It does not collect or check the prior consent that commercial calls to consumers now need in France, and screens against no register.
- Health data hosting is a regulated activity in France (the HDS certification); we have not verified whether appointment calls fall inside it and do not claim an HDS certificate.
- Transfer to a person and voicemail detection do not work on an imported Twilio number; use Plivo or Telnyx for those.
- We claim French, not Canadian or Belgian speech or Breton, Corsican and Occitan, and Arabic and Dutch are voice only.
The rules
The rules that apply in France.
The rules differ by country and change; you are responsible for following them where you operate.
Commercial calls need prior consent since 11 August 2026
According to the CNIL, since 11 August 2026 a business may phone a consumer for commercial canvassing only with their prior consent, and Bloctel has ended. The CNIL's sheet (10 June 2026) says consent must be free, specific, informed and unambiguous, valid for one year at most, withdrawable at any time, and provable; the proof is kept at least three years. Calls are allowed Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 20:00, not at weekends or on public holidays unless the person expressly agrees. Exceptions include a call about a contract in force; canvassing for energy renovation, home adaptation for loss of independence and the CPF is banned. For professionals the CNIL says to inform them and let them object. The CNIL's phone sheet excludes automated calling systems, and we could not verify how a voice agent is classified, so plan on the stricter view. The platform sets no calling window of its own; you set hours for each campaign. Read the official text; not legal advice.
Recording, health data and the AI disclosure
The CNIL's guidance on recording calls at work (an older page that says it is being updated) says callers must be told in two steps, a spoken sentence and a pointer to the full notice, and of their right to object before the call ends; recordings are kept six months at most by default. Recording is a per-agent switch, off by default. Article L1111-8 of the Public Health Code requires certification for hosting health data on digital media. We support region deployments for enterprise customers. Article 50(1) of the EU AI Act asks that people are told they are speaking to an AI unless obvious, from 2 August 2026 according to a law-firm summary; read the Regulation. Read the official text; not legal advice.
Read on 25 October 2026. Read the official text; this is not legal advice.
