Best Dialpad AI Alternatives for Small Teams

Short answer: decide first whether you are replacing your phone system or just adding AI answering. To replace it, Quo, Aircall, Nextiva, JustCall and RingCentral all include an AI agent or receptionist alongside calls and texts for your team. To keep your phone and add AI, an AI receptionist such as Rosie or ThinnestAI answers forwarded or imported numbers. ThinnestAI also answers WhatsApp and website chat, but it is not a phone system for your staff.

Details about each company come from its own website, read on 24 October 2026.

Where does AI sit in Dialpad?

Dialpad calls itself "The AI platform for customer experience" and sells four products. Connect is business communications, and its pricing page describes the Standard tier, with real-time transcripts and instant call summaries, as suited to small teams. The AI voice and digital agents are a separate product, Dialpad Resolve, with custom pricing billed through a pool of AI Agent Credits, where a conversation counts only when the AI retrieves information or takes an action (from its website, read 24 October 2026). For a small team, that means AI note-taking comes with the phone plan, but an AI that answers calls is a separate purchase.

Do you need a new phone system or just AI answering?

  • Replace the phone system if your team also needs shared numbers, a desktop and mobile app, call routing and texting, and you are unhappy with what you have.
  • Add AI answering if the phone system works and the problem is missed calls, after-hours cover or repetitive questions.

  • Limitation: it is not a business phone system: there is no softphone or desk-phone app for your staff, and outside India you import a number from your own Twilio, Telnyx or Plivo account.
