WhatsApp Business API
Best WhatsApp Business API Providers in the UK
Short answer: for a UK-registered supplier that also does SMS, Esendex. For developers, Twilio or Vonage, both with UK presence. For enterprise scale, Infobip, which lists a London office. For a team inbox across many channels, respond.io or Superchat. For one AI agent on WhatsApp and your phone line, ThinnestAI, whose international workspaces store data in London. Every provider here showed on its own website that it serves UK businesses.
What should a UK business check first?
- Where your data is stored, and who processes it. Ask for both; storage and processing are not always in the same place.
- Billing currency. Some providers bill in pounds, others in euros or US dollars.
- Meta's charges for UK numbers. Meta charges per delivered message, by category and by the recipient's country, and publishes the rates on its pricing page. Ask each provider whether it adds anything.
- Consent for marketing. UK data protection and electronic-marketing rules apply to marketing messages. Collect a clear opt-in and keep a record; that responsibility is yours whichever provider you use.
- Whether you need an inbox, an API or an AI agent. These providers are very different products.

UK-based and enterprise suppliers
Esendex
Esendex lists its registered office in Nottingham and offers WhatsApp through an online platform for a quick start or through its API, plus chatbots. Its WhatsApp API page says "pricing is based on usage." Good for a UK business that already sends SMS and wants one supplier.
Infobip
Infobip, an official WhatsApp Business Solution Provider, lists an office in London. Its FAQ positions the WhatsApp Business Platform for medium and large businesses, with tailored prices and a one-time activation fee.
Developer platforms
Twilio
Twilio's legal pages name Twilio UK Limited in London. WhatsApp runs through its Messaging, Conversations, Voice and Senders APIs, and its pricing page lists a $0.005 fee per message, inbound or outbound, with Meta's charges passed through.
Vonage
Vonage has a UK WhatsApp page on vonage.co.uk describing its Messages API with SMS failover and a sandbox for testing, and its support site describes Embedded Sign-Up using a Vonage number or your own.
Team inboxes
respond.io publishes a case study with Anglo Healthcare, a UK education recruiter running WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, TikTok and web chat from one inbox; its plans are priced in US dollars. Superchat lists a UK phone number and covers WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram, live chat, email and SMS, with a free plan and paid plans in euros on a 12-month minimum. Wati offers a WhatsApp-first team inbox with Astra AI agents and lists the UK among the countries where its WhatsApp calling works, including outbound.
Where does ThinnestAI fit for UK businesses?
ThinnestAI is an official Meta Tech Provider and works for businesses in any country. A UK workspace stores its data in London; parts of each call are processed outside the UK under UK transfer safeguards, which our data storage post explains. One AI agent answers WhatsApp, your phone line, website chat and Telegram with one memory of each customer, speaks English with a British accent on calls, sends templates and opt-in-only broadcasts, and hands chats to a shared inbox. For phone calls you import your own Twilio, Telnyx or Plivo number; renting a UK number from us is not available.
Where it is not the best fit: billing is in US dollars, not pounds; there is no SMS, Instagram, Messenger or email channel; and there is no visual flow builder. If you need any of those, Esendex, Superchat or respond.io will suit you better.
