WhatsApp Calling for Business: Let Customers Call You, and Let an AI Agent Answer

A customer opens your WhatsApp chat with a question. Typing it out is slow, so they tap the call button instead. On ThinnestAI, your AI agent now picks up — the same agent that answers your phone line, speaking the customer's language.

There is no number to dial and nothing to install. The customer is already in the chat, and the call happens right there.

What changes for your customers

  • One tap. The call button sits at the top of the chat they already use every day.
  • No phone charges. The call runs over the internet, so it doesn't use their talk time.
  • Answered at once, at any hour. The agent picks up in a moment, day or night.
  • Their language. Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, Telugu, Bengali and the rest — the same agent, the same knowledge base.

What changes for you

  • No phone line to rent. A WhatsApp call has no carrier in the middle, so you don't need a number just to take it.
  • One agent for every channel. The agent you built for your website, WhatsApp chat and phone line is the one that answers. Nothing to rebuild.
  • The same price as a phone call. A WhatsApp call is billed at your normal voice rate, by the minute.
  • One switch. Turn calls on or off for each WhatsApp number on the Connect WhatsApp page. Turning it off never touches your phone or website calling.

What does Meta charge?

Nothing, for calls your customers start. Meta states that all calls started by the user are free, and ThinnestAI doesn't add a charge of its own on top of your voice rate. You pay for the minutes the agent spends talking, and that's all.

Set it up in three steps

  1. Connect your WhatsApp Business number to ThinnestAI, if you haven't already.
  2. Open the Calls window on that number and switch WhatsApp calls on. You can also set your call hours, closed days, and whether the call button shows.
  3. Make sure the agent assigned to the number has voice set up. That's the agent that will answer.

One requirement comes from WhatsApp, not us: calling needs a daily messaging limit of at least 2,000 people. New numbers start lower, and Meta raises the limit as you send messages people engage with. The Calls window shows your number's limit before you try. We explain the rule in WhatsApp Business calling: who can switch it on.

What it's good for

  • Order and delivery questions — "where is my parcel?" answered by voice, from your order system.
  • Bookings — clinics, salons and service businesses taking appointments by voice, from a chat link.
  • Pre-sales questions — a buyer who'd rather ask than read, at the moment they're deciding.
  • Customers who find typing hard — speaking in their own language beats a keyboard.

What it doesn't do yet

Today the customer starts the call and the agent answers. Having the agent ring a customer on WhatsApp is not available yet, and we won't say it is until it is.
