Lead qualification · Singapore
How an AI agent qualifies leads for businesses in Singapore
An AI agent qualifies a lead by asking the questions you put in its prompt, in the caller's language, and saving the answers with a transcript and an outcome. Below are three Singapore examples: a renovation enquiry by phone, a tuition follow-up call and a WhatsApp enquiry to a corporate secretarial firm, with the questions that matter here and the Do Not Call rules for following a lead up.
Example 1 · Inbound call
Can the agent qualify a renovation enquiry for a resale flat?
It asked the five things a designer needs before a visit: flat type, scope, key collection date, rough budget and who decides. It booked a site visit through Cal.com and passed the notes to the designer.
- Name: Mr Tan
- Property: 4-room resale HDB, Jurong West
- Scope: Full renovation, hacking walls
- Budget range: S$60,000 to S$70,000
- Key collection: 14 December
- Visit: Saturday 10:30, both owners
Example 2 · Outbound follow-up call
Can the agent follow up a parent who asked for a call about a trial class?
The parent had asked on the website to be called about Primary 5 Maths. The agent said who it was and why it called, found the time was wrong, and scheduled a callback instead of pushing for a booking.
- Parent: Mrs Lim
- Level: Primary 5, Maths
- Urgency: Low, mid-year exam over
- Consent: Asked for a call on the web form
- Callback: Thursday 19:30
Example 3 · WhatsApp
Can the agent qualify a company-incorporation enquiry on WhatsApp?
The founder wrote in English at night. The agent asked about the business, owners and timing, saw the project was months away, and offered a consultation when ready rather than forcing a booking.
- Business: Design studio
- Owners: Two, one in Singapore, one in Kuala Lumpur
- Timing: Planning, maybe next year
- Next step: Checklist sent, check-in March
Questions to ask
What should the agent ask a lead in Singapore?
You write these into the agent's prompt, in your own words and in your customers' language.
| Question | Why it matters here |
|---|---|
| Is it an HDB flat, a condo or a landed home? | Renovation scope, access rules and who must approve work differ by home type, so it decides who visits and what you can quote. |
| Which level or subject, and when is the next exam? | A tuition centre fills classes by level, and urgency before a school exam separates a parent ready to book from one who is browsing. |
| Which language does the customer prefer? | Singapore customers may be more comfortable in Mandarin, Malay or Tamil. A match builds trust; WhatsApp replies cover English and Tamil of these. |
| What is the rough budget range? | A range lets a designer or consultant decide whether to visit now or send material first, without asking for exact figures. |
| Who decides, and can they attend? | Many purchases here are joint decisions between spouses or partners; booking the visit when both can come avoids a wasted trip. |
| When do they need it done? | Key collection dates, school terms and company launch dates give real deadlines to rank leads by. |
| What is the best number and time to reach them? | Written into the callback, it keeps follow-up calls inside hours the person chose. |
Reading the outcome
Hot, warm or cold: what happens next.
The bands are the ones you describe in the prompt, then read off each call's outcome and transcript.
| Band | What it means | What you do next |
|---|---|---|
| Hot | Clear need, a date or deadline and a decision-maker available. You write these rules into the agent prompt; the platform has no built-in scoring. | Book the visit or call straight away through Cal.com, and alert the person who will attend. |
| Warm | Real interest but timing or decision-maker not settled. | Schedule a callback at the time they chose and send the material they asked for on WhatsApp. |
| Cold | Planning only, no date or budget, or not a fit. | Send a checklist or answer, note a check-in, and stop. Do not chase a person who asked you to wait. |
The rules
What the rules say about following up a lead in Singapore.
Consent, do-not-call lists, calling hours and recording are set by local law, and you are responsible for them.
Calling someone who filled in a form: Do Not Call Registry and consent
Under the PDPA's Do Not Call provisions (Part 9), the PDPC's guidelines revised on 1 February 2021 say you must check the DNC Registry before sending a specified message to a Singapore number, with results valid for 21 days, unless the person gave clear and unambiguous consent in evidential form. A web form asking for a call is the usual evidence; keep the record. The definition of a voice call includes a recorded or synthetic voice, so an AI agent's call is covered. The platform checks no register and collects no consent; you do. Read the official text; not legal advice.
Say who you are and do not hide your number
Section 44 requires a specified message to identify the sender and how to contact them, and section 45 forbids withholding the calling line identity on a voice call (PDPC guidelines, read 25 October 2026). Section 48B bans messages to numbers made up by dictionary attack, so only call numbers people gave you. The opening line is yours to write: it should name the business, say why it is calling and offer to stop. We state no Singapore calling hours because we found none in the guidelines; set hours with your adviser. Read the official text; not legal advice.
WhatsApp opt-in and recording
The PDPC says the DNC rules apply to apps such as WhatsApp when they use a Singapore number, and Meta's policy (last updated 23 September 2026) says you may message only people who gave you their number and opted in. Recording is a per-agent switch, off by default; voice recordings are personal data, so tell callers in the greeting. Read the official text; not legal advice.
Read on 25 October 2026. Read the official text; this is not legal advice.
Local notes
What is different in Singapore.
- Voice agents speak English (a Singaporean accent is among the English voices), Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. We do not claim Singlish or Chinese dialects.
- WhatsApp and chat replies run in 37 languages: English and Tamil are among them, Mandarin and Malay are not. We found no reliable national figure for WhatsApp use, so test with your own customers.
- Singapore numbers are eight digits starting with 3, 6, 8 or 9. International workspaces import a number from Twilio, Telnyx or Plivo; we do not sell +65 numbers.
- We support region deployments for enterprise customers. Ask your adviser about the PDPA transfer rule.
