In practice
How whatsapp automation is used in Singapore.
- WhatsApp replies run in 37 languages: English and Tamil are among them, Mandarin and Malay are not.
- We found no reliable national figure for WhatsApp use in Singapore, so test it with your own customers.
- Templates are needed outside the 24-hour window, and Meta reviews them before you can use them.
- The PDPC says the Do Not Call rules cover apps such as WhatsApp when they use a Singapore number.
Plainly
What this will not do for you in Singapore.
So you can rule it in or out before you start.
- No Mandarin or Malay replies on WhatsApp or chat; reply in English or hand over to your team.
- No catalogue, checkout or WhatsApp Pay messages, and no coexistence with the WhatsApp Business App.
- It does not check the Do Not Call Registry or collect consent.
- Meta's business verification and payment card stay in Meta's tools.
The rules
The rules that apply in Singapore.
The rules differ by country and change; you are responsible for following them where you operate.
Opt-in and messaging policy
Meta's WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy (last updated 23 September 2026) says you may message only people who gave you their number and opted in, and that you must respect opt-out and block requests. A customer who messages you first has started a conversation; a promotion to past customers needs opt-in. Read the official text; not legal advice.
Do Not Call and personal data
The PDPC's Do Not Call guidelines (revised 1 February 2021) apply to messages sent through apps such as WhatsApp to a Singapore telephone number: marketing messages need a Registry check (results valid for 21 days) or evidential consent, and must identify the sender. The product checks no register. We support region deployments for enterprise customers. Read the official text; not legal advice.
Read on 25 October 2026. Read the official text; this is not legal advice.
