Voice AI platforms compared, for businesses in Mexico
For a business in Mexico the choice comes down to five checks: whether you can keep the number your customers already ring, whether Spanish and English both work on the phone, how outbound calls sit with the REPEP register, whether WhatsApp is part of the same agent, and what currency you are billed in. This page puts ThinnestAI beside three developer platforms on those checks, with the sources and the date we read them.
What to check
Five things to check before you choose, in Mexico.
Put the last column to every supplier you are weighing, ThinnestAI included.
| Check | Why it matters in Mexico | ThinnestAI | Ask any supplier |
|---|---|---|---|
| A number you can keep | A small business in Mexico often runs on one number that is also its WhatsApp number, answered by the owner between jobs, so changing it means telling every customer. | Connect the number from your own Twilio, Telnyx or Plivo account, or forward calls from your Mexican carrier to a number you hold there. We don't sell Mexican numbers. Telnyx calls only the countries switched on in your outbound voice profile, so add Mexico before outbound calls. | Can the agent answer the Mexican number my customers already call, and who keeps that number if I leave? |
| Spanish and English on the phone | Customers from the United States, foreign residents and business visitors in Monterrey, Querétaro, Mexico City and Cancún ring in English, and local callers ring in Spanish. | Spanish and English are both among the 50 voice languages, and you listen to each voice in the library before you pick. We claim the language, not a Mexican accent of it, so ring the agent from your browser and have a Mexican colleague try it. Indigenous languages such as Nahuatl are not supported. | Can I hear the Spanish voice, and have someone from my region test it, before I connect my number? |
| Outbound calling rules | PROFECO runs a free register, REPEP, where consumers list their numbers; once a number is registered, providers have 30 calendar days to stop promotional calls (read 25 October 2026, from reporting and law-firm commentary because the official pages could not be opened). We found no calling-hours rule for sales calls. | You set calling hours per campaign on the called person's clock and keep your own do-not-contact list. The agent does not screen numbers against REPEP and holds no consent record for you. | Who checks REPEP before a campaign runs, and can I stop calls outside the hours I set? |
| Recording and privacy | A new federal law on personal data held by private parties (LFPDPPP) was published on 20 March 2025 and asks a business to give an aviso de privacidad (read 25 October 2026, in a law-firm summary). We have not verified Mexican rules on recording phone calls. | Recording is a per-agent switch that stays off until you turn it on, and the opening line is yours to write, so it can say the call is recorded. We support region deployments for enterprise customers, make no claim that the product meets any Mexican law, and point you to the privacy policy; ask your own adviser. | Is call recording off by default, and what can you put in writing about how call data is handled? |
| WhatsApp and billing | Many small businesses in Mexico talk to customers on WhatsApp, and a clinic or restaurant that answers calls in one tool and WhatsApp in another ends up with two histories of the same person. | One agent answers the phone, WhatsApp and website chat, with replies in Spanish or English and a shared inbox where your team takes over. Billing is in US dollars by card; there is no billing in pesos. | Do calls and WhatsApp share one agent and one history, and can I pay in pesos or only in another currency? |

Other options
Other kinds of supplier in Mexico.
Kinds of supplier, not companies. Each is the right call for someone.
A bilingual staffed answering service
People answer in Spanish or English, can judge an anxious caller and pass urgent ones on. It is the better call when every caller needs a person from the first word. It cannot answer a hundred calls at once or work through a list of leads.
A local cloud-telephony supplier
A Mexican telephony supplier can give you a local number, a menu and voicemail in one bill. That suits a business that only needs calls routed. It does not understand a question, take a booking or keep a transcript.
A WhatsApp-only messaging provider
A local WhatsApp provider covers the channel many customers prefer, with templates and a team inbox. It does not answer a ringing phone, so the calls you miss stay missed.
Plainly
Who should pick what.
ThinnestAI fits when
- Your number is both the phone line and the WhatsApp line, and you want one agent and one history of each customer across both, with a shared inbox for your team.
- You get enquiries in Spanish and in English, for example a tour operator in Cancún or an industrial supplier in Monterrey, and want one agent that handles both.
- You are a small team that needs a managed product rather than a build: a call log with transcripts, bookings into your calendar, and campaigns with calling hours you set.
Something else fits better when
- Every caller needs a person from the first word, as with a clinical emergency or a complaint. Use a staffed service or your own staff.
- Your callers speak an indigenous language such as Nahuatl or Yucatec Maya. Those are not among our voice or chat languages.
- Your finance team needs invoices in pesos, or your buyer asks for a security certificate. We bill in US dollars and claim no certification.
