Voice AI use cases for businesses in Mexico
A voice AI agent answers the phone in Spanish or English, books, takes messages and hands over to your team. These eight use cases come from clinics, restaurants, hotels, suppliers and agents in Guadalajara, Monterrey, Cancún, Oaxaca and beyond, with the limits and rules that apply in Mexico.
Eight use cases
How businesses in Mexico use voice ai.
Fictional businesses in real places, to show what the agent does with calls.
01 — Dental clinic · Guadalajara
Urgent toothache calls after the clinic closes
A parent rings at 19:40 with a child in pain. The agent asks the child's age and whether the pain wakes them at night, flags it as urgent and books the first morning slot, leaving the diagnosis to the dentist.
- Answer in Spanish and ask the child's age and symptoms from the questions you wrote.
- Mark the call urgent when the answers match your urgency rules.
- Book the earliest slot in the calendar through Cal.com.
- Send the confirmation to the parent on WhatsApp by template.
The dentist starts the day with an urgent patient already booked, instead of a voicemail to chase.
02 — Restaurant and mezcal bar · Oaxaca
Group and table bookings during the dinner rush
Calls arrive just when the kitchen and floor are at full stretch. The agent takes party size, date and allergies, answers menu questions from the menu you uploaded and passes groups of eight or more to the manager.
- Answer in Spanish or English and ask date, time and party size.
- Check the menu in the knowledge base for allergen and vegetarian questions.
- Book tables through your booking calendar; for large groups, take details and schedule a callback from the manager.
- Leave a transcript and outcome for each call.
Bookings are no longer lost when nobody can reach the phone, and the manager sees every group request in one place.
03 — Estate agent · Querétaro
Qualifying enquiries about a new development
Buyers ring about houses seen online. The agent asks what they want, how they will pay (cash, bank mortgage or a housing-fund credit), their budget and timing, then books a visit with an adviser.
- Ask the questions you write into the prompt: type of home, budget, form of payment, timing.
- Answer common questions about the development from your brochure and website.
- Book a visit through Cal.com or schedule a callback from an adviser.
- Record the hot, warm or cold band you defined in the outcome.
Advisers spend their Saturdays with buyers who are ready, and cold enquiries get information rather than a visit.
04 — Tour operator and boutique hotel · Cancún
English-speaking enquiries at night
Visitors from abroad ring at odd hours with questions about transfers, excursions and rooms. The agent answers in English, takes the request and leaves it for the team to confirm in the morning.
- Answer in English, or in another of the 50 voice languages the caller prefers.
- Answer from your guide: pick-up points, excursion times, check-in rules.
- Take the booking request with dates, group size and contact details.
- Leave the request for reception, and send the confirmation by WhatsApp once a person approves.
Enquiries that used to wait until breakfast are captured the moment they arrive, in the caller's language.
05 — Industrial supplier · Monterrey
Capturing quote requests with the right details
Buyers ring for prices on parts. The agent takes the part numbers, quantities, delivery address and urgency, so the salesperson starts with a complete request instead of a call-back game.
- Ask for part numbers, quantities and delivery location.
- Check stock and lead-time information from the knowledge base where you have loaded it.
- Capture the lead with the buyer's company and contact.
- Escalate urgent orders to a salesperson on duty.
Salespeople quote from a complete request and the most urgent orders reach a person first.
06 — Veterinary clinic · Mérida
Emergency calls and vaccination reminders
Inbound, the agent separates an emergency from a routine visit and rings the vet on duty. Outbound, it reminds existing clients about vaccinations they are due for.
- Ask whether the animal is in distress and apply your emergency rules.
- Transfer the call to the vet on duty on a Plivo or Telnyx number, or schedule a callback otherwise.
- For routine visits, book the appointment through Cal.com.
- For reminders, call existing clients inside the hours you set on their clock, from a list of people you already serve.
Emergencies reach a vet fast and routine bookings do not interrupt one.
07 — Accountancy and tax adviser · Mexico City
Overflow during the tax-season rush
In busy weeks the phone never stops. The agent answers the common questions, takes new enquiries in full and books consultations, and is set never to give tax advice.
- Answer questions on opening hours, documents to bring and fees from the information you provide.
- Take down the caller's situation in their own words.
- Book a consultation in the calendar.
- Hand anything that needs advice to an accountant, with the transcript.
Accountants return to a list of structured enquiries instead of a stack of voicemails.
08 — Solar installer · Hermosillo
Calling back people who asked about solar panels
A visitor to the website asked to be called. The agent says who is calling and why, offers to stop, asks about the roof and the electricity bill and books an estimator visit or a callback for later.
- Open by saying who is calling and offering to stop.
- Ask the questions you wrote: owner or tenant, roof type, bimonthly bill.
- Book a site visit, or schedule a callback inside calling hours when the person says not now.
- Add anyone who declines to your do-not-contact list.
The estimator visits people who asked and are ready, and the rest are called back only when they said so.
In practice
How voice ai is used in Mexico.
- We found no reliable national figure for phone-answering habits or voice-agent adoption in Mexico, so we quote none. The use cases above come from the kinds of business that get calls while the owner is busy.
- Callers use Spanish and English, and tourism areas such as Cancún and Oaxaca also see French, German and other visitors. Voice agents speak 50 languages; we claim Spanish and not a Mexican accent of it.
- Mexico spans several time zones; set campaign hours on the called person's clock.
Plainly
What this will not do for you in Mexico.
So you can rule it in or out before you start.
- Indigenous languages such as Nahuatl or Yucatec Maya are not supported on the phone or in chat.
- We do not sell Mexican phone numbers; you import your own from a Twilio, Telnyx or Plivo account, and outbound calls on Telnyx need Mexico switched on in your outbound voice profile.
- Transfer to a person and voicemail detection do not work on an imported Twilio number; they work on Plivo and Telnyx numbers.
- The product does not screen numbers against REPEP or check consent for outbound calls.
The rules
The rules that apply in Mexico.
The rules differ by country and change; you are responsible for following them where you operate.
Outbound calls: REPEP and consent
PROFECO's free public register, the Registro Público para Evitar Publicidad (REPEP), lets consumers list their numbers so that providers stop using them for promotional calls. As read on 25 October 2026 in press and law-firm reporting (PROFECO's own pages could not be opened by our tools): registration does not expire, providers have 30 calendar days to stop, and after that the consumer can complain; REPEP is described as covering calls and text messages, and WhatsApp coverage is unconfirmed. Reports also say PROFECO is not competent over calls by financial-services providers, insurers, collection agencies, political organisations, charities and pollsters; treat that as unverified. We found no calling-hours rule for sales calls in the sources we read, and we could not verify how an AI voice agent is classified. Read the official text; not legal advice.
Recording and the privacy notice
Recording is off by default and a per-agent switch; if you switch it on, say so in the opening line. Mexico's new Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties was published on 20 March 2025 and entered into force on 21 March 2025, and asks a business that collects personal data to give a privacy notice (aviso de privacidad), per a law-firm summary read on 25 October 2026. We have not verified Mexican rules on recording calls. We support region deployments for enterprise customers. Read the official text; not legal advice.
