Voice AI platforms compared, for Nepali businesses
For a Nepali business the choice comes down to five checks: which languages the agent speaks on the phone, since Nepali voice needs care, whether you can keep your number, what Nepal's consent rules say about marketing messages and calls, how recording and the Privacy Act are handled, and whether WhatsApp and billing suit guests abroad. This page puts ThinnestAI beside three developer platforms on those checks, with the sources and the date we read them.
What to check
Five things to check before you choose, in Nepal.
Put the last column to every supplier you are weighing, ThinnestAI included.
| Check | Why it matters in Nepal | ThinnestAI | Ask any supplier |
|---|---|---|---|
| Which languages, including Nepali | Trekking agencies and hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara take calls from travellers abroad in English, while local callers may want Nepali. | A workspace opened from Nepal normally goes to the international deployment, where voice agents speak English and Hindi, not Nepali. Nepali voice is one of the 22 Indian languages on our India deployment, which is a separate service with its own billing. Write to hello@thinnest.ai before you build if you need Nepali. | Is Nepali offered for calls and for WhatsApp replies in the plan I would use, or only on a separate service? |
| A number you can keep | A Thamel agency or a Lakeside hotel has one number on its website and booking pages, and guests ring it from other time zones. | Connect a number from your own Twilio, Telnyx or Plivo account, or forward calls from another provider to one. We don't sell Nepali numbers, and whether a carrier can offer a +977 number is for that carrier to say. Add Nepal to your Telnyx outbound voice profile before you call out. | Can the agent answer the number my guests already have, and which carrier accounts does it connect to? |
| Advertising consent and outbound calls | A DLA Piper overview says an advertisement-oriented SMS or email cannot be sent without consent, citing the Advertisement Act and its Regulation. The sources we read showed no Nepal Telecommunications Authority rule on telemarketing, and no rule on calling hours or AI-voiced calls (read 25 October 2026). | You set calling hours per campaign on the called person's clock, which matters when your guests are abroad, and keep your own do-not-contact list. The agent checks no register and holds no consent record. Treat promotional WhatsApp messages as needing consent and keep proof. | Can I set calling hours on my guest's clock, and who holds proof of consent for marketing messages? |
| Recording and the Privacy Act | A secondary summary says section 293 of the National Penal Code, 2074 bars recording a conversation without consent of those involved or authorisation. The Privacy Act, 2075 (2018) puts consent and notice of purpose at its centre, and no data-protection authority has been designated (read 25 October 2026). | Recording is a per-agent switch that stays off until you turn it on, so you can tell callers first. We make no claim that the product meets any Nepali law. We support region deployments for enterprise customers; the privacy policy covers processing that involves other countries, and a Nepali lawyer can read the sections themselves. | Is recording off by default, and can my opening line say the call is recorded? |
| WhatsApp, visitors abroad and billing | Guests and relatives abroad message at hours that suit their time zone, not the office, so English templates and a shared inbox matter. | One agent answers the phone, WhatsApp, website chat and Telegram, with one memory of each guest, and staff can take over any chat. Facebook Messenger and Instagram are not channels it answers. On the international deployment billing is in US dollars by card, and your bank converts the charge into rupees. | Can staff take over a WhatsApp chat at any time, and can I pay by local card or bank transfer? |

Other options
Other kinds of supplier in Nepal.
Kinds of supplier, not companies. Each is the right call for someone.
A staffed travel or front desk
People who speak Nepali and English can handle a distressed trekker or an upset guest, and know the routes. A desk cannot answer an early-morning call from another time zone unless someone is awake.
A telecom or cloud-telephony supplier
A telephony supplier with Nepali-speaking support can set up lines, forwarding and a menu close to home. A menu does not answer questions about routes or rooms, and it leaves no transcript for the morning staff.
Building on a developer platform
A team with engineers can pick each speech, language-model, voice and telephony provider and look for a Nepali option itself. That means build time, and the testing, inbox and billing for each part are yours.
Plainly
Who should pick what.
ThinnestAI fits when
- You run a trekking agency and want early-morning English enquiries from other time zones taken down in full: route, dates, group size and an email to reply to.
- You run a hotel in Pokhara or Kathmandu and want room and check-in questions answered in English on the phone and WhatsApp from the rates and house rules you upload.
- You are a clinic, restaurant or property dealer that wants bookings and enquiries handled in one inbox where staff can take over.
Something else fits better when
- You need Nepali spoken on the phone today, inside an international workspace. We do not offer it there; Nepali voice is on our India deployment, so write to us first or pick a supplier that does.
- Callers may report a trekking accident or an illness. They need a person from the first word, so use staff or a staffed service.
- Your developers want to pick each provider and design their own call flows; a developer platform gives that control and we have no flow builder.
