WhatsApp automation use cases in Nepal

WhatsApp automation uses the official WhatsApp Business API to send approved templates, collect details through forms and let an AI agent answer customers, with a person able to take over any chat. These are eight situations from Nepali businesses. For Nepali-language replies, ask us at hello@thinnest.ai first, because Nepali voice is on our India deployment only.

Eight use cases

How businesses in Nepal use whatsapp automation.

Fictional businesses in real places, to show what the agent does with WhatsApp messages.

01 — Trekking agency · Thamel, Kathmandu

Sending itineraries and packing lists to booked trekkers

After a booking, the agency sends a short sequence of approved templates to trekkers who agreed to messages: the itinerary, the packing list and the arrival briefing. The agent answers questions in English from the agency's own documents.

  1. Sends the itinerary template after booking and the packing list a week before.
  2. Answers gear, fitness and meeting-point questions from the knowledge base.
  3. Hands permit, safety or payment questions to a guide or the office.

Trekkers arrive briefed, and the office answers fewer repeat questions.

02 — Hotel · Lakeside, Pokhara

Replying to booking enquiries and collecting arrival details

Guests message for rates and dates. The agent answers from the hotel's rates and house rules and sends a form for dates, guests and arrival time, then passes the booking to reception.

  1. Answers on rooms, rates and check-in times from the knowledge base.
  2. Sends a form for dates, guests, pickup need and arrival time.
  3. Hands the completed form to reception, who confirms the deposit.

Reception confirms bookings that already carry dates, guests and arrival time.

03 — Clinic · Maharajgunj, Kathmandu

Sending appointment reminders and moving appointments

The clinic sends a reminder template the day before. Patients can confirm or ask to change it, and the agent offers open slots through Cal.com.

  1. Sends the reminder template to patients who agreed to messages.
  2. Reads the reply: confirm, move or cancel.
  3. Offers open slots and rebooks.
  4. Hands clinical questions to staff.

Patients move appointments in one message instead of leaving gaps.

04 — College · Kathmandu

Answering application questions and sending the form

Students and parents message about programmes, fees and deadlines. The agent answers from the college's documents and sends an application interest form, so counsellors receive structured details.

  1. Answers on programmes, fees and deadlines from the knowledge base.
  2. Sends an interest form for the programme, level and contact.
  3. Passes the form to a counsellor through the shared inbox.

Questions are answered at once and counsellors follow up on completed forms.

05 — Real estate · Bhaktapur

Answering land and house enquiries and booking site visits

Enquiries arrive from ads and from Nepalis abroad. The agent answers questions about locations and plot sizes in ropani and aana from the developer's documents, and books a site visit or a call at a time that suits the sender's time zone.

  1. Answers on projects and plot sizes from the knowledge base.
  2. Asks budget, timing and where the sender is.
  3. Books a visit or a call through Cal.com.
  4. Does not comment on legal title, which goes to a person.

Every enquiry gets a prompt answer and callbacks respect the sender's clock.

06 — Distributor · Birgunj

Confirming dealer orders and dispatch

A distributor sends order-received and dispatched templates to dealers who agreed to messages, and the agent answers status questions from the data your system sends.

  1. Sends an approved order-received template and a dispatched template.
  2. Answers status and delivery-time questions from the data your system supplies.
  3. Hands price and credit questions to the sales team.

Dealers get status in the chat and the sales team deals only with commercial questions.

07 — Handicraft exporter · Patan, Lalitpur

Collecting sample requests from overseas buyers

Buyers message with product questions. The agent answers in English about products, minimum quantities and shipping, and sends a form for sample requests with product, quantity and shipping address.

  1. Answers on products and minimum orders from the knowledge base.
  2. Sends a sample-request form.
  3. Passes the completed form to the owner with the chat attached.

Sample requests reach the owner complete, so quotes go out sooner.

08 — Jungle lodge · Sauraha, Chitwan

Following a guest from WhatsApp to a phone call

A guest messages on WhatsApp about a safari package, then rings the lodge from the road. The agent matches the call to the chat by phone number, says they have spoken before and carries on, without repeating the earlier details until the caller verifies.

  1. Answers package questions on WhatsApp and notes dates and group size.
  2. Recognises the caller by phone number when they ring.
  3. Says they have spoken on WhatsApp before and withholds the content until the caller verifies.
  4. Hands the booking to the manager to confirm.

The guest does not repeat themselves, and records stay linked, not merged.

In practice

How whatsapp automation is used in Nepal.

  • We found no reliable national figure for WhatsApp use among Nepali businesses, so we do not quote one. Meta's pricing page, read on 25 October 2026, lists Nepal as a market with its own rate card, moved out of the regional rate from 1 October 2026; the rates are in Meta's rate card and we do not quote them.
  • Replies from the AI agent run in 37 languages, and the product's language list includes Nepali. For Nepali-language replies on the international deployment, ask us at hello@thinnest.ai first rather than plan around it, and test with real customer messages.
  • Many Nepali businesses serve visitors and relatives abroad, so English templates and time-zone-aware callbacks matter. The agent runs inside the platform: templates, broadcasts, forms and a shared inbox where staff take over any chat.

Plainly

What this will not do for you in Nepal.

So you can rule it in or out before you start.

  • No Nepali voice on the international deployment; Nepali voice is on our India deployment only.
  • Facebook Messenger and Instagram messages are not channels the agent answers.
  • No catalogue, in-chat checkout or WhatsApp Pay messages, and no coexistence with the WhatsApp Business app on the same number.
  • Marketing templates need Meta approval and opt-in; business verification and Meta's payment card stay in Meta's tools.

The rules

The rules that apply in Nepal.

The rules differ by country and change; you are responsible for following them where you operate.

Meta's opt-in rule

Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform pricing page, read on 25 October 2026, says businesses can only message users who have opted in to receiving messages from them, and that template messages can be delivered at any time; we read no country-specific block on marketing templates for Nepal. Templates are needed outside the 24-hour window and Meta reviews them. Keep proof of opt-in. Read the page itself and Meta's policy; not legal advice.

Nepali rules on advertising messages

A DLA Piper overview says an advertisement-oriented SMS or email cannot be sent to a person without that person's consent, citing the Advertisement Act and its Regulation; we did not find a Nepali rule that speaks to WhatsApp messages specifically, and found no Nepal Telecommunications Authority rule on marketing messages. Treat promotional WhatsApp messages as needing consent, keep proof, and put an opt-out in marketing templates. Read on 25 October 2026; read the official text; not legal advice.

Privacy and data

The Individual Privacy Act, 2075 (2018) took effect on 18 September 2018, with the Individual Privacy Regulation, 2077 under it. Law-firm summaries say it requires consent and notice of purpose when personal information is collected, and the DLA Piper overview says no data-protection authority has been designated. We support region deployments for enterprise customers. Read on 25 October 2026; not legal advice.

Questions

Common questions.

Can the agent reply in Nepali on WhatsApp?

+
The product's chat language list includes Nepali, but Nepali voice is on our India deployment only. For Nepali-language replies on the international deployment, ask us at hello@thinnest.ai before you plan around it.

Do I have to use Meta tools outside the dashboard?

+
No. Templates, broadcasts, forms and the shared inbox all work inside the dashboard. Business verification and Meta's payment card stay in Meta's own tools.

Does it work with Facebook and Instagram messages?

+
No. Facebook Messenger and Instagram are not channels the agent answers. Move those customers to WhatsApp or your website.

Can I message guests after they leave?

+
Only guests who opted in, with Meta-approved templates and an opt-out. Keep proof of opt-in.

How much does it cost?

+
Meta publishes per-message rates by market and the platform adds its fee. We do not quote either here; see Meta's rate card and the pricing page.
