Voice AI use cases in Nepal

A voice AI agent answers and makes phone calls, books appointments, answers from your documents and passes the call to a person when it should. On the international deployment, which is where a workspace opened from Nepal normally goes, it speaks English and Hindi; Nepali voice is available only on our India deployment. These are eight situations from Nepali businesses where it fits.

Eight use cases

How businesses in Nepal use voice ai.

Fictional businesses in real places, to show what the agent does with calls.

01 — Trekking agency · Thamel, Kathmandu

Answering trekkers who call from another time zone

Travellers ring overnight from Australia, Europe or the US. The agent answers in English, takes the route, dates, group size and budget, and schedules a guide callback in the traveller's time zone.

  1. Asks route, dates, group size and trekking experience.
  2. Notes the budget and the traveller's location.
  3. Schedules a callback from a guide inside the calling hours you set, on the caller's clock.

Enquiries made in the night are waiting, complete, when the guide starts work.

02 — Hotel · Lakeside, Pokhara

Taking booking calls at a lakeside hotel

Reception is busy at check-in time. The agent answers booking and directions calls in English, answers from the hotel's rates and house rules and passes the booking to reception for confirmation.

  1. Asks dates, rooms and guests, and whether airport pickup is needed.
  2. Answers on rates, rooms and check-in times from the knowledge base.
  3. Passes the details to reception or transfers to a person on request.

Calls during check-in are answered and reception confirms bookings that are already written down.

03 — Dental clinic · Baneshwor, Kathmandu

Booking and recalling dental patients

Patients ring to book check-ups and cleanings. The agent books through Cal.com, rings the day before to confirm, and calls patients who are due for a recall, within hours you set.

  1. Asks the treatment and the preferred day and books a slot.
  2. Rings the day before to confirm or move the appointment.
  3. Hands clinical questions to the practice team.

Fewer empty chairs, and reception spends less of the day on the phone.

04 — School · Lalitpur

Handling admission calls at an English-medium school

Parents call about admission dates, fees and the entrance test. The agent answers from the school's documents in English and books a campus visit with the admissions officer.

  1. Answers on grades, fees, entrance tests and documents from the knowledge base.
  2. Asks the child's grade and the parent's preferred visit time.
  3. Books a campus visit through Cal.com.

Parents get answers at once and the admissions officer sees families that are ready to visit.

05 — Real estate · Lalitpur

Calling back web-form leads who asked to be called

A land and house developer's web form says "call me". The agent calls in English or Hindi, says who is calling, asks the plot size, funds and timing, and schedules a callback for leads who are abroad.

  1. Says who is calling and why and offers to stop before any question.
  2. Asks size in ropani or aana, budget and whether funds are own or a loan.
  3. Books a visit or schedules a callback in the lead's time zone.

Leads are contacted when they asked to be, and callbacks respect where they are.

In practice

How voice ai is used in Nepal.

  • We found no reliable national figure for how Nepali businesses divide customer contact between phone and WhatsApp, so we do not quote one. Many customers for hotels and trekking agencies call from abroad, which is why time zones feature in the examples.
  • On the international deployment voice agents speak English and Hindi. Nepali voice is not among the 50 voice languages there; it is one of the 22 scheduled Indian languages on our India deployment (app.thinnest.ai). Write to hello@thinnest.ai if you need Nepali on the phone.
  • The agent uses a number you hold on your own Twilio, Telnyx or Plivo account; we do not sell Nepali numbers, and whether a carrier can offer a +977 number is for that carrier to say.

Plainly

What this will not do for you in Nepal.

So you can rule it in or out before you start.

  • No Nepali voice on the international deployment; we will not promise it there.
  • Transfer to a person and voicemail detection do not work on an imported Twilio number.
  • We do not sell or rent Nepali numbers, and the platform sets no calling window of its own: you set the hours per campaign.
  • No named CRM integrations: outcomes reach your system through signed webhooks or the API.

The rules

The rules that apply in Nepal.

The rules differ by country and change; you are responsible for following them where you operate.

Calls, consent and recording

Nepal's telecom regulator is the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA). In the sources we read we found no NTA rule on telemarketing, calling hours for a business making its own calls, or AI-voiced calls, so treat those as unsettled. A DLA Piper overview says an advertisement-oriented SMS or email cannot be sent without consent, citing the Advertisement Act and its Regulation; we did not find a rule that speaks to calls. A secondary summary says section 293 of the National Penal Code, 2074 bars recording a conversation without the consent of those involved or authorisation from the relevant authority; we have not read it. Say in your opening line that a call may be recorded and keep recording off unless you need it. We do not screen numbers against any register. Read on 25 October 2026; read the official text; not legal advice.

Privacy and data

The Individual Privacy Act, 2075 (2018) took effect on 18 September 2018, with the Individual Privacy Regulation, 2077 under it. Law-firm summaries say it requires consent and notice of purpose when personal information is collected, and the DLA Piper overview says no data-protection authority has been designated. We support region deployments for enterprise customers. Ask your adviser what you owe your customers. Read on 25 October 2026; not legal advice.

Questions

Common questions.

Is there a Nepali voice agent?

+
Yes, on our India deployment, where Nepali is one of the 22 scheduled Indian languages. The international deployment offers English and Hindi voice, not Nepali. Write to hello@thinnest.ai if you need Nepali.

Can I use Hindi instead?

+
Yes. Hindi is one of the 50 voice languages on the international deployment. Test it with your callers first.

Can I keep my Nepali phone number?

+
If it lives on a Twilio, Telnyx or Plivo account you hold, or calls can be forwarded to a number there. We do not sell Nepali numbers.

Are there calling-hours rules in Nepal?

+
We found no published rule on calling hours for a business making its own calls. The platform sets no window of its own, so set considerate hours per campaign on the called person's clock.

How do I pay from Nepal?

+
On the international deployment, plans are billed in US dollars by card; your bank converts the charge and decides whether overseas payments are allowed. You can start free first; see the pricing page.
