Lead qualification · Bangladesh
How an AI agent qualifies leads in Bangladesh: three real-world examples
An AI agent qualifies a lead by asking the questions you put in its prompt, writing the answers down and ending with a next step: a booked visit, a scheduled callback or a handover to a person. The three made-up conversations below come from Sylhet, Dhaka and a Dhaka boutique, and the page covers the questions that matter when families decide, money may come from abroad and leads often start on Facebook, plus what we could and could not verify about following up leads in Bangladesh.
Example 1 · Inbound call
Can the agent handle a student who is only exploring?
Yes. It found out that the student had not yet taken the English test and had no budget settled, said so plainly, and booked a callback after the exam instead of pushing for a meeting.
- Name: Tanvir Ahmed
- Need: Business studies abroad, next year
- English test: Not yet taken
- Budget: Not decided
- Decision-maker: Father, with the student
- Next step: Consultant callback after the result, evening
Example 2 · Outbound follow-up call
How does the agent call back someone who asked about a flat?
It introduced itself, asked permission to continue, qualified the flat size, handover date and payment route in five questions, and booked a site visit for Friday morning.
- Name: Mr Rahim
- Need: 1,400 sq ft flat to live in
- Timing: Move within a year
- Funds: Own funds plus a bank loan; family help from abroad
- Next step: Site visit Friday 10:00
Example 3 · WhatsApp
Can the agent qualify a custom-order enquiry and hand it to a person?
It took the garment, size, date and budget, saw that the date was tight and the order was custom, and handed the chat to the owner with everything written down.
- Item: Custom wedding panjabi, size 42
- Colour: Cream with gold work
- Budget: Around Tk 12,000
- Needed by: Three weeks
- Delivery: Uttara Sector 7
- Next step: Owner confirms date on WhatsApp
Questions to ask
What should the agent ask a lead in Bangladesh?
You write these into the agent's prompt, in your own words and in your customers' language.
| Question | Why it matters here |
|---|---|
| Who is making the decision, and who is paying? | In many Bangladeshi families the parents or relatives decide, as the study-abroad student shows. Knowing this tells you who to include in the callback. |
| How will the payment be made: own funds, a loan or help from family? | For flats and for study abroad the funding route sets the timing. Money coming from a relative abroad or a bank loan means a longer, more certain path than a casual enquiry. |
| Which area of Dhaka, Chattogram or Sylhet are you in? | Travel across a city takes time. The neighbourhood tells you whether a visit or delivery is practical, and for property, which project fits. |
| When does it have to happen: the handover, the intake or the wedding? | A fixed date separates a hot lead from a casual one, and it tells you if the custom order or the visit is even possible. |
| What have you done already: the English test, a bank pre-approval, a measurement? | The step someone has completed shows how serious they are, and what to ask next. |
| Would you like to continue in Bengali or English, and what time suits you? | Offering the language and a time keeps the call polite and makes the callback more likely to be answered. |
| Is it fine to message you on WhatsApp on this number? | Many leads first arrive through a Facebook page or an ad. Asking permission before you message them on WhatsApp is your responsibility and costs nothing. |
Reading the outcome
Hot, warm or cold: what happens next.
The bands are the ones you describe in the prompt, then read off each call's outcome and transcript.
| Band | What it means | What you do next |
|---|---|---|
| Hot | A clear need, a date that is close, the money or the route to it in place and the decision-maker involved. These bands are what you write into the agent's prompt and read off each outcome; ThinnestAI does not score leads for you. | Book the visit or consultation the same day, or hand the chat or call to a person. Read the transcript first. |
| Warm | Real interest with one gap: the date, the funds or a family member who has not yet been involved. | Schedule a callback inside the calling hours you set, on the lead's clock, and include the other decision-maker if they asked for that. |
| Cold | Exploring with no date, no budget and no step taken. | Do not chase. Offer a callback after the step they are waiting for, as with the English test, and add anyone who says stop to your do-not-contact list at once. |
The rules
What the rules say about following up a lead in Bangladesh.
Consent, do-not-call lists, calling hours and recording are set by local law, and you are responsible for them.
Regulator and the Do Not Disturb service
The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has directed mobile operators about promotional messages and automated calls. BTRC was reported in 2018 as telling operators to stop promotional SMS and automated (IVR) calls overnight and during religious observances; reports have given different overnight hours at different times, so we state no figure. On 24 April 2021 BTRC asked mobile users to switch on the operators' Do Not Disturb service to stop promotional texts, and a 2024 newspaper column noted that it does not stop messages from senders who are not the operator. These directions are addressed to operators and their own promotional traffic; we did not find a rule that directly binds a business running its own calling campaign. Find the current circulars on the BTRC website; not legal advice.
Calling a lead who filled in a form
In the sources we read we did not find a Bangladeshi rule on calling hours for a business making its own calls, on a form-fill counting as consent for a call, on recording calls, or on AI-voiced calls, so treat those as unsettled. The platform sets no calling window of its own and does not screen numbers against any register. You set calling hours per campaign on the called person's clock, keep your own do-not-contact list, and write an opening line that says who is calling, why, and that it is an AI, and offers to stop, as in the apartment example. Keep proof of when the lead asked to be contacted, and proof of opt-in for WhatsApp marketing messages. Say in the opening line that a call may be recorded, and keep recording off unless you need it. Personal data
The Personal Data Protection Ordinance, 2025 (Ordinance No. 61 of 2025) was gazetted on 6 November 2025. As reported by The Daily Star and The Business Standard, it requires informed, freely given consent for processing personal data, reaches foreign entities that handle Bangladeshi citizens' data, and allows data to leave Bangladesh only where the recipient gives equivalent protection, a standard reports call unclear. A National Data Governance Authority is to oversee it. Reports differ on timing: some sections take effect after 18 months, while a policy tracker lists it as in force from 6 November 2025. It was issued as an ordinance, so check its current status and rules. We support region deployments for enterprise customers. Read on 25 October 2026; not legal advice.

Local notes
What is different in Bangladesh.
- Voice agents speak Bengali and English, and Hindi too. Replies on WhatsApp and website chat run in 37 languages, and Bengali is one of them. Regional speech such as Sylheti or Chattogram dialects is not claimed.
- Many leads first meet a business on a Facebook page or an ad. Facebook Messenger and Instagram messages are not channels the agent answers, so give those leads a phone number or a WhatsApp number, or call back the ones who left a number in a form.
- Callers often mix Bengali and English. Ring your own agent with real phrases, including place names and project names, before it takes live calls, and tune it from the transcripts.
- The agent uses a number you hold on your own Twilio, Telnyx or Plivo account; whether a carrier can give you a +880 number is for that carrier to say. Offer the lead a callback time and keep it; the agent schedules callbacks inside the hours you set.
