WhatsApp automation use cases in Bangladesh

WhatsApp automation uses the official WhatsApp Business API to send approved templates, collect details through forms and let an AI agent answer customers in Bengali or English, with a person able to take over any chat. These are eight situations from Bangladeshi businesses, what the agent does, and what it will not do here.

Eight use cases

How businesses in Bangladesh use whatsapp automation.

Fictional businesses in real places, to show what the agent does with WhatsApp messages.

01 — Boutique · Dhanmondi, Dhaka

Taking custom-order details and handing over to the owner

Customers message about custom wedding wear. The agent collects the garment, size, colour, date and budget, then hands the chat to the owner to confirm whether the date is possible.

  1. Answers on fabrics and styles from the shop's documents.
  2. Asks the garment, size, colour, date, budget and delivery area.
  3. Hands the chat to the owner with the details written down.

The owner replies to an enquiry that already has every detail instead of starting from scratch.

02 — Diagnostic centre · Dhanmondi, Dhaka

Sending preparation instructions before a test

After a booking, the centre sends a template with the time and preparation rules, such as fasting, and answers the questions that follow from the same instructions.

  1. Sends an approved template with the appointment and preparation.
  2. Answers questions from the centre's own instructions.
  3. Offers another slot through Cal.com if the patient replies that they cannot come.
  4. Hands clinical questions to staff.

Patients arrive prepared and rebooking happens in the chat instead of on a phone call.

03 — Electronics retailer · Agrabad, Chattogram

Answering warranty and service-centre questions

Customers ask whether a product is under warranty, where the service centre is and what to bring. The agent answers from the retailer's warranty terms and branch list and passes claims to a person.

  1. Answers on warranty terms and service-centre addresses from the knowledge base.
  2. Asks the product and purchase details.
  3. Opens a handover to the service team for any claim.

Routine warranty questions are answered at once and the service team receives only real claims.

04 — Travel agency · Sylhet

Sending a document checklist with a WhatsApp form

Once a traveller books, the agency sends a form that collects the details it needs and a checklist of documents to prepare. The agent answers the common questions about the checklist and flags missing items to the consultant.

  1. Sends a form for passenger names, dates and contact details.
  2. Explains the checklist from the agency's own documents.
  3. Flags incomplete forms to the consultant through the shared inbox.

Consultants work from complete forms and chase fewer missing details.

05 — Garment exporter · Narayanganj

Updating buyers on sample and order status

A merchandiser sends template updates on sample dispatch and order milestones to buyers' representatives who agreed to messages, and the agent answers the follow-up questions in English from the order status your system sends.

  1. Sends an approved template when a sample ships or an order milestone is reached.
  2. Answers status questions from the data your system supplies.
  3. Hands commercial questions to the merchandiser.

Buyers get status without emailing, and merchandisers answer only commercial questions.

06 — Coaching centre · Uttara, Dhaka

Answering batch and fee questions and taking admissions

Parents message late in the evening to ask about batches and fees. The agent replies in Bengali from the centre's documents and sends an admission form for the details of the student.

  1. Answers on batches, timings and fees from the knowledge base.
  2. Sends an admission form and records the answers.
  3. Books a counsellor visit through Cal.com when the parent asks.

Evening enquiries are answered at once and the counsellor starts from a filled-in form.

07 — Online seller · Mohammadpur, Dhaka

Giving order status to customers who used to ask on Facebook

A seller who built its customer base on a Facebook page moves order updates to WhatsApp. Customers who left a number get template updates, and the agent answers status questions on WhatsApp.

  1. Sends an approved order-confirmed and dispatched template to opted-in customers.
  2. Answers status questions from the data your system sends.
  3. Opens a human handover for returns.

Order questions are answered on WhatsApp instead of piling up in page messages the agent cannot see.

08 — Apartment developer · Bashundhara R/A, Dhaka

Following a flat enquiry from WhatsApp to a call

A buyer messages on WhatsApp about a flat, then rings the sales line. The agent matches the call to the chat by phone number, says they have spoken before and carries on, without repeating the earlier details until the caller verifies.

  1. Answers the first questions on WhatsApp and notes the flat size and timing.
  2. Recognises the caller by phone number when they ring.
  3. Says they have spoken on WhatsApp before and withholds the content until the caller verifies.
  4. Books a site visit through Cal.com.

The buyer does not repeat themselves, and the records stay linked, not merged.

In practice

How whatsapp automation is used in Bangladesh.

  • We found no reliable national figure for WhatsApp use among Bangladeshi businesses, so we do not quote one. Meta's pricing page, read on 25 October 2026, lists Bangladesh as a market with its own rate card, moved out of the regional rate from 1 October 2026; the rates are in Meta's rate card and we do not quote them.
  • Replies from the AI agent run in 37 languages, and Bengali is one of them. Test with real customer messages, including Bengali typed in English letters, before relying on it.
  • Many businesses in Bangladesh sell on Facebook pages. The agent does not answer Facebook Messenger, so WhatsApp is the channel to move customers to.

Plainly

What this will not do for you in Bangladesh.

So you can rule it in or out before you start.

  • Facebook Messenger and Instagram messages are not channels the agent answers.
  • No catalogue, in-chat checkout or WhatsApp Pay messages, and no coexistence with the WhatsApp Business app on the same number.
  • Marketing templates need Meta approval and opt-in; business verification and Meta's payment card stay in Meta's tools.
  • No named CRM integrations: leads and outcomes reach your system through signed webhooks or the API.

The rules

The rules that apply in Bangladesh.

The rules differ by country and change; you are responsible for following them where you operate.

Meta's opt-in rule

Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform pricing page, read on 25 October 2026, says businesses can only message users who have opted in to receiving messages from them, and that template messages can be delivered at any time; we read no country-specific block on marketing templates for Bangladesh. Templates are needed outside the 24-hour window and Meta reviews them. Keep proof of opt-in. Read the page itself and Meta's policy; not legal advice.

BTRC and promotional messages

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has directed mobile operators on promotional SMS and automated calls and asked users to switch on the operators' Do Not Disturb service (announcement of 24 April 2021). Those directions are addressed to operators, and we did not find a rule that directly covers WhatsApp messages from a business. Put an opt-out in marketing templates and honour it at once. Read on 25 October 2026; see the BTRC website; not legal advice.

Personal data

The Personal Data Protection Ordinance, 2025 (Ordinance No. 61 of 2025) was gazetted on 6 November 2025. As reported, it requires informed, freely given consent for processing personal data and allows transfers out of Bangladesh only where the recipient gives equivalent protection, a standard reports call unclear; reports differ on phase-in timing, so check which sections apply. We support region deployments for enterprise customers. Read on 25 October 2026; not legal advice.

Questions

Common questions.

Can the agent reply in Bengali on WhatsApp?

+
Yes. Replies run in 37 languages and Bengali is one of them. Test with real customer messages, including Bengali typed in English letters, before you rely on it.

Can it answer my Facebook page messages?

+
No. Facebook Messenger and Instagram are not channels the agent answers. Move customers to WhatsApp by putting your WhatsApp number on the page.

Do I have to use Meta tools outside the dashboard?

+
No. Templates, broadcasts, forms and the shared inbox work inside the dashboard. Business verification and Meta's payment card stay in Meta's tools.

Can I send promotional messages to a list?

+
Only to people who opted in, with Meta-approved templates and an opt-out. Keep proof of opt-in.

How much does it cost?

+
Meta publishes per-message rates by market and the platform adds its fee. We do not quote either here; see Meta's rate card and the pricing page.
